17/03/09 - Styling the Animal Seat Covers
Fully waterproofed for post surfing and bad days of weather (and kids), I know the animal ones are around a lot (loving these)but there is a market for a decent cover but not the ranges? maybe i looked in the wrong places. |

24/10/09 - Double J bar.
Two opposing J bars, I can slide the surfboard in from the rear doors and with the help of an extended roof rack pad it holds perfectly and does not move. |
20/10/09 - Telephone Stool?
We were given this telephone stool but it was going to the tip, its in perfect coindition and the seat is exactly where my daughter would pull up a chair to eat at the table, painted and screwed in. Good storage. |

05/09/09 - Addition of Bonnet Bra from CMC.
Being a white van and as I want to keep the bumpers black now, stops me looking so much like a work van. |
25/05/09 - The chandelier has been added, well the mountney steering wheel from my first Volkswagen Beetle, 1972 raqtop, circa 1996. |
22/05/09 - The addition of the rear speakers (Kenwood preference throughout), then fixing the box units to the floor and uphostering the boxes, almost done but family calls, hope to finish this stage tomorrow. |

21/05/09 - The addition of the rear speakers (Kenwood preference throughout), then fixing the box units to the floor and uphostering the boxes, almost done but family calls, hope to finish this stage tomorrow. |

19/05/09 - Continued building the interior, slightly over-engineered but better to be safe than sorry, will hopefully purchase rear speakers tomorrow allowing me to fix the boxes wheelarch boxes down and carpet them.. |
17/05/09 - Direction change with the carpet.
Made a decision not to go for the hibiscus as it was pandering to a stereotype, found this pattern which far better suits my tastes (just don't tell anyone I found it in IKEA!). |
15/05/09 - The simple addition of Wind Deflectors from CMC.
Also after I ran the new speaker wire from the back of the van through the roof, down door pillars to the back of the car stereo, an friend / client / ex car electrition wired them up for me, better invest in the rear speakers now!! |
13/05/09 - Finally covered and added the roof lining along with an array of LED lights that are more than adequate to light an entire campsite!. |
11/05/09 - Just a quick catch-up comparison showing how the van has transformed over the past couple of months.
As a side note, after driving for the first time today since all the carpet was fitted in the back, the sound level has reduced dramatically. |
| 10/05/09 - Just finished a weekend of carpeting the van, very please, a few spots or bad but will clean up this week then add the roof and fix the floor down.. |
06/05/09 - The carpet has arrived from T4 World and yep it's perfect, getting excited now and a busy weekend planned, finished off the rear speaker wiring last night so a rub down and fit! Also recieved the floor carpet from CMC, opted for the purpose cut Waterproof Automotive Carpet Load Mat in Black, they say it will outlast the van, perfect for kids and surfboards I say!!! |
| 03/05/09 - Finishing off the insulation with a thermal roll, and a little help from the Vans biggest fan (after me). |
| 02/05/09 - The ply is here and the carpet is on its way so time to insulate, I have the option of full kingspan, expanding foam etc, etc, but I have chosen to just use good old fashion lost insulation, partially as I have a massive roll of it collecting dust in the garage. I created my own holding bags out of dustsheets and strengthened them with tape, then used good old fashion gaffer tape, these are the results so far. |

30/04/09 - Taking the hisbiscus pattern through, starting with the table, 1 coat of varnish to stop the pain running too much 3 coats of enamel paint then multiple coats of clear varnish. |
| 29/04/09 - The full ply lining has arrived so I can start the insulation, by the time I finish that the carpet should be here, all falling into place.......hopefully not famous last words. |
| 25/04/09 - Shaped the table for the van, out of ply based on a skimboard design I have seen. The table has been finished at this stage with one coat of clear varnish ready for the enamel paint design and a few more coats of varnish. I have also bought a folding leg so the table can be detached and stored for transport, just got o work out a clever or not so clever attach/detach system. |
| 22/04/09 - Ordered the van carpet today 20 square metres plus glue from T4World. |
| 20/04/09 - Placed the order for a replacement ply lining including roof, all the insulation has been acquired so just waiting on delivery then its off to purchase paper suits for a fun filled fibreglass day! |
19/04/09 - Collected a set of Audi 16" Alloys today, not the 18" I had planned but after a fair amount of research and my fill of forum comments I was convinced that 16" was perfect bearing in mind the planned lifestyle / family / comfort the fan would be catering for, plus alloys are original Audi and in A1 condition, after market alloys do concern me based on previous experience with a curb! |
16/04/09 - Fitted the necessary clear front indicators, it still amazes me how such a simple thing can make such a transformation. |
| 31/03/09 - All quiet right now, work taking a priority (tax year end), although i did treat myself to a new set of Kenwood 3-ways fro the front, previous owner butched all fittings out of the dash so he could just wedge a set of sony 3 way in the holes - and they were blown. |
16/03/09 - Been busy sourcing all electrics for the fitting of the Leisure battery and interior lighting, all necessary before insulation, re-ply and carpet, not to mention the fabric found below for the roof lining, curtains and maybe a cushion or 2. Loving the Hibiscus! |
| 01/03/09 - 1 Day 1 window in the panel side, all fine apart from the glue cured in the tube so 4pm saturday afternoon we were left with big hole, no glue and a lot of tape until monday morning, all is well that ends well. |
25/02/09 - 1 Day 1 window in the sliding door, other side to be added tomorrow weather allowing. |
| 22/02/09 - All necessary ply is removed ready for window insertion, rest will be removed soon for lagging / insulation. |
| 19/02/09 - The side windows have arrived!! - time to clear out the ply ready to cut and add. |
12/02/09 - Had a GEEK moment!, i'm a designer with far too much photoshop knowlege although this is simple but effective,
take a look at the masterplan on the ideas page. |
| 11/02/09 - Bought a new badge for the back as was missing - small details |
| 06/02/09 - A plan as cunning as a fox what used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on and is now working for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning? |
| Click here to take a look at the masterplan |
| 01/02/09 - Starting Point |
| The obvious cleanup starts, as the van was previously a site inspection van, it has not suffered through repeated heavy use but does have a level of scruffiness to the ply and a ground in layer of dirt in the floor etc, first things first, scrubbing everything before systematically removing ply, cleaning up, sanding and finally varnishing to finish. |
ALL SLOW TO GET DONE DUE TO SNOW!!!! |
